Our director and founder recalls his early encounters with computers: "When I was in primary school, I was given a Toshiba 1910 notebook - the display could show 16 shades of grey (that's right, no colour), it had an impractical trackball sticking out of the side, woeful battery life... The nicest thing I can say about it is it was a hateful slice of misery, but looking back, was a good way to begin. My interest had been sparked - I wanted to know not just how to use it, but to understand how it worked. The challenge was getting the most out of it."
"There was only a technician at the school occasionally, which left a technical support vacuum. Before long I found myself becoming the unofficial technician, taking other students' computers home for repair overnight, and even being called on by teaching staff when they needed support."
